Nowadays we cannot imagine our everyday life without various images. All these facts lead to the increasing necessity of compression algorithms. The key stage of JPEG algorithm is discrete cosine transform. Here are some of its features. Although an image blocking transform is easy and effective it leads to the fact that various artifacts appear, the most noticeable of them being blocking and ringing.
